Election Announcement - the Representative Council Elections 2021

The elections for the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland’s (ISYY) Representative Council will be held as electronic elections in the autumn of 2021. Advance voting takes place on 25.–29.10.2021 and the actual voting day is 3.11.2021.

The elected Representative Council, which consists of 39 members, forms the highest decision-making body of the Student Union. The elections take place every other year and all ISYY members, which include for example degree students studying at UEF, can become candidates. The Representative Council guides the Student Union’s operations by deciding, for instance, the amount of the membership fee, action plan for each year, finances and direction of the Student Union’s future. Every year, the Representative Council appoints the Representative Council Chairpersons as well as the Executive Board.

How to become a candidate?

You can join as a candidate on a candidate list established by you or someone else. Establishing a candidate list is easy and ISYY’s staff will help you if needed. The candidate applications must be delivered to ISYY’s office in paper form or submitted electronically by 29 September 3 pm. You can find the forms at the ISYY offices or you can print the forms from ISYY’s website under the Elections section or from the Documents. Take a chance and become a candidate. By taking part in the Representative Council Elections, you can influence the most important matters of your student life and participate in decision-making.

How to use the electronic election system?

Here is how to establish a candidate list:

1. Log in to the system with your UEF credentials.
2. Choose ’register a new list’.
3. Fill in the registration form, save your information by pressing ‘save’. Now your candidate list has been established!
4. Start marketing your list and let students know the name of your list.
5. You will get a notification to the email address you gave when your list has received a new candidate application.
6. Confirm your new candidates’ candidacy on your list via the link that is sent to your email address.

Here are instructions on how to become a candidate:

If you want to run as a candidate on your own candidate list, please fill in only the candidate list registration form.

1. Log in to the system with your UEF credentials.
2. Choose ’register as a candidate’.
3. Select your preferred candidate list from the menu. If you cannot find the list you want, please contact the representative of that list.
4. Fill in the Candidate's approval and assurance and press ‘send application’.
5. You will be notified via email after the representative of the candidate list has accepted your application.
