The Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland
08.02.2021
The student union is making some changes in 2021. With new organisational changes, ISYY will no longer have sections from 1.4.2021 onwards and instead will have teams.
Teams offer a chance to participate in the student union’s activities in practice without long-term active commitment.
Any ISYY member may apply to and be involved in teams. Previous experience with the student union is not required. As a team member, you will be able to both design and organise student union activities as well as contribute to the wellbeing and common good of all students.
The purpose of teams is also to increase the amount of visible student union activities on the campuses.
Interested in May Day student festivities? Eager to participate in perhaps the most recognizable student event of the year? Do you want to be involved in organising ISYY’s May Day traditions or something entirely new? If organising events is what interests you and you want to be involved in designing the greatest May Day Joensuu and Kuopio have ever seen, this team application is shouting your name! Previous experience from ISYY is not required, motivation is the deciding factor!
ISYY is searching for around 3 team members to both campuses, who can then gather around a larger group of collaborators to plan the event. One team leader is also chosen from amongst the members. You can also note whether you would be available as the team leader in the application. The team will be active from 1.3.2021 to 15.5.2021.
The May Day team is expected to organise certain traditions, but new ideas are also welcome. Traditions primarily include the May Day parade and a student union speech. Traditions in Kuopio also include “Proffan uitto”, “Velj’mies” and “Siskotyttö”.
The possibility of receiving course credits for operating in teams is being discussed with the university. At the end of the year, all team members will be invited for a joint hangout and thank you -event.
ISYY board members Juuso Myller and Enni Toiviainen will act as contact persons for the May Day teams during all the team activities.
