Fairtrade is about local sustainability, decent working conditions and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.
UEF has been nominated as a Fairtrade University in 2014 which means that it has made a commitment to supporting and using Fairtrade. The nomination was called at the Student Union ISYY's instigation. UEF, just like ISYY serves coffee and tea that’s been Fairtrade certificated.
The programme of the Fairtrade Week at both campuses on 21.10.–25.10:
From Monday to Friday: Bring your own cup and get – 20 % off the price of a cup of Fairtrade certification coffee.
On Wednesday 23 October from 10.30 to 13.00, Fazer brings Fairtrade certificated products to Carelia and Snellmania. You have also a chance to taste Fairtrade Ice tea.
From Monday to Friday: you can come across a giant banana on the campus. Take a selfie with the banana and post it on the comment section of Fazer’s Fairtrade Week’s Facebook-post. Best picture wins a bag full of Fairtrade products! You can meet the banana at 10.30–13.00.
Love to cook or bake? Share your recipe with Fairtrade certificated bananas with Fazer. Send the recipe to one of the emails underneath on 25 October at the latest. The winner gets one month of free lunches at one of the campus restaurants.
