The Academic Year Will Kick Off With the Campus Crash on 5.9.2019 in Joensuu and Kuopio

The campus happening Campus Crash (Kampusrysäys) will start the academic year of UEF’s new students for the eighth time. The event will be held in Joensuu and Kuopio on Thursday 5.9.2019, on the same day as UEF’s Opening Ceremony of the Academic Year 2019–2020 in Joensuu.

The City Orienteering (kaupunkisuunnistus), an event, where students will go around their campus city in groups and complete different kinds of tasks given to them, will also begin at the event.

Come and mingle with other new students, have your team photo taken, try your rodeo skills on a mechanical bull and listen to good music! You can also bring your picnic snacks with you.

Continuing students are also warmly welcomed to participate in the event!

The Campus Crash is organized by the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) and the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY).

You will find the programme of the two campuses below.

Joensuu Campus Crash and City Orienteering

Time: 5.9. at 15.30–18.00

Place: Carelia yard (Yliopistokatu 4)

PROGRAMME:

15.30 Opening ceremonies: Welcoming words by the Academic Rector Harri Siiskonen and Ella Partanen, ISYY Executive Board
15.45 UEF Choir Joy
16.30 Rajatapaus 
17.45 City Orienteering starts
18.00 End of the event 

At the Carelia yard, you are able to get to know the local basketball team Kataja Basket at Kataja Basket Meet and Greet. In addition, you can ride a rodeo bull, go crazy on a bouncy castle and challenge your friends at sumo wrestling. DJ Saravuo is in charge of the music.

Joensuu's City Orienteering

The City Orienteering (kaupunkisuunnistus) is an event, where students will go around their campus city in groups and complete different kinds of tasks given to them. The starting point for the orienteering  is at Carelia’s backyard on 5.9. at 17.45. The orienteering ends at 10 pm. The City Orienteering is free of charge for first year students: be in contact with your tutor. 

Also other than first year students can participate. Price for a whole group (from 6 to 10 people) is 25 €. You can buy a pass for the Orienteering at Kampusrysäys on 5.9. (backyard of Carelia) during the event. The entry fee covers the whole orientation and its after party in Kimmel. You will also get an overall badge! When a group has visited at least six checkpoints and turns in the pass at the after party, they will participate in a competition, the prize of which will be announced later. 

After party tickets will be sold in Kimmel for 3 euros, coat check not included. In Kimmel’s after party, you will be entertained by DJ MISTA S and TEMPER2. The party will be hosted by MATTI 8.

Kuopio Campus Crash and City Orienteering

Time: 5.9. at 15.00–18.00

Place: Studentia’s grounds (Yliopistonranta 3) 

PROGRAMME:

15.00 Opening ceremonies: Welcoming words by UEF, Student and Learning Services
15.05 Enrollment for City Orienteering opens at Lukema
15.45 UEF Kuopio Student Choir
16.30 SYKETTÄ warm-up
17.00 City Orienteering starts (other City Orienteering groups leave at 17.20, 17.40 and 18.00)
18.00 End of the event

OTHER ACTIVITIES:

• Student clubs, organisations and other local actors present their activities.
• DJ plays music throughout the event.
• Get your City Orienteering group pictured by a photographer.
• Start the City Orienteering by riding a mechanical bull. Riding the mechanical bull is the first task to be completed in the City Orienteering. You can complete the first task any time during the Campus Crash. 
• Free-of-charge cotton candy!

Kuopio's City Orienteering

The City Orienteering (kaupunkisuunnistus) is an event, where students will go around their campus city in groups and complete different kinds of tasks given to them. The City Orienteering enrollment takes place on 5.9. at 15.05–17.00 at Lukema. Gather a team of max. 10 new students and invent a team name. When enrolling, you will receive a city map with ten checkpoints, overall badges, free ticket for the after party in Ilona and a start number. Only new students can participate in the City Orienteering.

After Party

The after party will be in Ilona. The winner of the City Orienteering and the best team outfit will be rewarded in the after party. Those participating in the City Orienteering (only new students!) will get in to Ilona for free with the ticket given to them when enrolling. With the ticket, you can enter Ilona for free until 12 pm. Coat check is not included. 

The after party is for everyone so also those who do not participate in the City Orienteering, are welcomed to join the after party. Pre-tickets will be sold in kide.app starting from Thursday 29.8.2019. The price of the pre-tickets is 3 € (coat check is not included in the price). You can also buy a ticket at the door in Ilona for 5 euros at the eve of the event. Coat check is not included. 

Those entering Ilona with the tickets given to them when enrolling for the City Orienteering and those who have purchased a pre-ticket for the after party will have a separate queue at Ilona’s door from those who will purchase their ticket only at the door.

Best Team Outfit Wins Prizes as Well 

Take a photo with your group and upload it on to the Kuopion Kampusrysäys ja kaupunkisuunnistus 2019 Facebook event (link below). The group with the most likes by 10 am on 9th of September will win a prize.
