The Campus Happening, Kampusrysäys, will kick off the academic year of the University of Eastern Finland for the seventh time. The event will be held in Joensuu and Kuopio on Thursday 6.9.2018, on the same day as UEF’s Opening Ceremony of the Academic Year 2018–2019.
At the Campus Happening, new and continuing students as well as the university staff can get together and get to know each other while having fun. This year, Student Associations and university departments will also compete against each other, e.g. in sumo wrestling and mölkky. You can also bring your picnic snacks with you.
First year students’ own happening City Orienteering will also begin at the event.
The Campus Happening is organized by the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) and the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY).
You will find the programme of the two campuses below.
Time: 6.9. at 15.00–18.00
Place: Carelia yard (Yliopistokatu 4)

15.00 Opening ceremonies: Welcoming words
15.30 Rytmihäiriköt
16.05–17.30 Campus competition: Student associations and university departments compete against each other (Sumo wrestling, Rodeo bull and quick mölkky)
17.45 City Orienteering starts
18.00 End of the event
OTHER ACTIVITIES:
– Bouncy castle
– Rodeo bull
– Sumo wrestling
– Student Union clubs, sections and other local actors present their activities
CAMPUS BATTLE:
Student associations will compete against their faculties in three different rounds of sports in a Campus Battle: Rodeo bull, sumo wrestling and “quick mölkky”. One team member will represent their team in each round. The winning team is the one who wins 2 out of three rounds and will compete against the other winning teams in a final round. There will be prizes for the winners!
INFO ABOUT JOENSUU’S CITY ORIENTEERING:
The starting point for the orienteering is at Carelia’s backyard on 6.9. at 17.45. Also other than first year students can participate. City orienteering is free of charge for first year students: be in contact with your tutor. The city orienteering ends at 10 pm.
Price for a whole group (from 6 to 10 people) is 25 €. You can buy a pass for the Orienteering at Kampusrysäys on 6.9. (backyard of Carelia) during the event. The entry fee covers the whole orientation and its after parties in Ilona and Gloria. You will also get an overall badge! When a group has visited at least six checkpoints and turns in the pass at the after party, they will participate in a competition, the prize of which will be announced later. After party tickets will be sold in Ilona and Gloria for 3 euros, coat check not included.
BEST TEAM OUTFIT WINS PRIZES AS WELL:

INFO ABOUT KUOPIO’S CITY ORIENTEERING
Kuopio’s City Orienteering will start from Lukema,6.9.018 at 17.15. Tutors enroll the teams before the event here. Gather a team of max. 10 new students and invent a team name. After enrollment, pick up your Orienteering package from Lukema during the Campus Happening at 15.35->. You will receive a city map with ten checkpoints, overall badges and an armband for the after party. Only new students can participate in the City Orienteering.
AFTER PARTY:
The after party will be in Ilona. Pre-tickets will be sold at the ISYY office during its opening hours starting from Monday 20.8.2018 for 2 euros. You can also buy a ticket at the door in Ilona for 3 euros at the eve of the event. Coat check is not included.
Those participating in the City Orienteering (only new students!) will get in to Ilona for free with the armband given to them when picking up their Orienteering package at Lukema. With the armband you can enter Ilona for free until 11 pm. Coat check is not included.
The winner of the City Orienteering will be rewarded in Ilona.
After the party at 3.30 am., there is a free bus ride leaving from in front of Ilona to route Niirala-Puijonlaakso-Taivaanpankontie-Neulamäki-City Center.
Small changes in the programme are possible.
