Students' Mental Health Day is celebrated every spring and in 2023 the day will be celebrated on Wednesday 19th of April. The campaign is coordinated by Nyyti ry, an association promoting mental health among students. Students’ Mental Health Day highlights the mental health situation of students and encourages everyone to take action to promote student mental health. This year's theme is moderation.
During the day, there will be activities for students on both campuses that fit in with the theme of mental health promotion. See below for more detailed event descriptions and to register.
Tai chi is a health-promoting form of exercise that aims to use the body holistically and relax the body and mind through movement. Tai chi is suitable for people of all ages and sport abilities. You can participate even if you have no experience in the sport. Karla Soto from the BRIDGES team will lead the workshop. The BRIDGES project offers the opportunity to participate in a low-threshold meditation session on 19th of April at 12 noon-1 pm in the Studentia Chapel. In a session guided by BRIDGES team member Matti Karhunen, we will start by going through some of the benefits and techniques of meditation. Afterwards, we will do a short exercise on how to let go of all thoughts for a moment and come back to this moment and strengthen our compassionate attitude towards ourselves and others. Meditation is a good way to pause in the busyness of everyday life and re-energise for the rest of the day. You do not need previous experience of meditation to take part. All you need is to come and just let yourself be. After the meditation session, you can stay and enjoy a cup of tea.
Sign up for the meditation session by 18th of April at 6 pm.
