ISYY’s Vappu in Joensuu 2023

The traditions of the Student Union (ISYY) in Vappu (May Day) Eve includes the Vappu Parade that goes from the UEF campus through the city centre to the Ilosaari. Before the Parade, we’ll gather to watch the Capping of the Alkukivet Statue organised by Täky ry and during the Parade ISYY will perform the washing and capping of the Kanavatyttö Statue. The Parade ends at Ilosaari, where we will hear the speech of the Student Union and live music by the UEF Choir JOY and RytmiHäiriköt.

Schedule of the Vappu Eve 30th April

Carelia yard

• at 3 pm Capping of the Alkukivet (organiser: Täky ry)
• at 3.30 Start of the Parade from Carelia to Ilosaari

Ilosaaressa

• from 4 pm to 6 pm Students' Vappu Event at Ilosaari
  • Vappu Speech of the Student Union
  • UEF Choir JOY
  • RytmiHäiriköt
