ISYY and the Student Unions of Karelia and Savonia Universities of Applied Sciences are organising together Parliamentary Election themed events: Panel Discussions ans Parliamentary Election Fairs. The Discussions are held only in Finnish.

Events in Kuopio:

• Panel Discussion in Kuopio (in Finnish), Monday 27.2. at 11-12, Savonia "campus heart"
• Election Fair in Kuopio, Thursday 16.3. at 10-14, Snellmania

The Panel Discussion can be followed either on place or via live-stream. The Candidates attending the Discussions and the Parties attending the Election Fairs will be published when the enrollment has ended.

We invite you and one of your friend to move with us on Valentine's Day 14th of February!

You are welcome to invite one of your study friend or colleague who is a member of university community but doesn't have a SYKETTÄ sticker to join in for the the events below:

• Basketball at 8 pm, Klassillinen lukio. Only the person with the SYKETTÄ sticker should enroll for this event!
• Body maintenance 45 at 6.10 pm, Studentia. Inform Tiitta (tiitta.paajanen(at)savonia.fi) by 14.2. 2 pm if you come with a friend!
• Take a friend with you at the Snellmania or Studentia gym
• Get-to-know classes at Snellmania mirror hall. Only the person with the SYKETTÄ sticker should enroll for this event!

Free physical activity counselling for students

SYKETTÄ Kuopio University Sports Services’ new physical activity counselling service offers free and low-threshold individual counselling and support for students who do not exercise enough for their health and well-being, or who need advice on how to become more active in their everyday lives, or support in starting physical activity.

Physical activity counselling consists of a maximum of five meetings with a physical activity counsellor. The content of the meetings is planned according to the client's wishes and objectives. The aim of the counselling is to help the client to find a way of moving that they like and to increase their well-being in everyday life. The service is intended for students of UEF and does not require a SYKETTÄ sticker.

Nutrition counseling

SYKETTÄ offers practical and evidence based nutrition services for students and personnel who have bought SYKETTÄ stickers. Available nutrition services in English are nutrition counseling, cooking classes and “Ask from Nutrition Specialist” -form. Nutrition counseling (30 min) on Wednesdays at 17.30 and at 18.00 Read more here.

Snellmania campus restaurant

On Wednesday, February 15, 2023, the restaurant Snellmania will be closed and the lunch service will exceptionally end at 1.00 pm. The restaurant is reserved for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of medical education and research.

Calls for Application for Outgoing Student Exchange in February!

The application period for student exchange during spring semester 2023 is open in February! The application period is open from Feb 1 to Feb 15 at 3 pm – please make sure you submit your application in time!

We recommend that you start your application well before the deadline.

Student organisations of Kuopio proudly presents the annual student winter fair WINTERFEST on 28 February

Winterfest is a traditional multidisciplinary student activity organised by student union SAVOTTA of Savonia in co-operation with student union ISYY of UEF and other Kuopio-based student organisations. The day is divided into three different “events”.

Winterfest begins with ice fishing and snow football at the Savilahti  at 12.00. The group competition is held from 13.00 till 17.00. You can also try out your skills in human curling and snow bowling or enjoy the sauna and hot tub provided by engineering students in case you feel a bit chilly.

After that the evening continues in Amarillo and Hospoda Koza. The night ends with the Afterparty in Apteekkari where Mikael Gabriel makes sure all the party people are entertained. Event participants are offered a free-of-charge nonstop bus transports from the city centrum to Savilahti and back from 13.15 to 19.15.

A new event will take over the streets of Kuopio when the interdisciplinary APPROVENTURE takes place for the first time on Thursday 16.3.2023! Do you dare to go on a discovery trip through Kuopio and hunt for the needed stamps from places to visit? For your achievements, you will receive wonderful overall badges and climb the ranks to the top of the approventurers! This is an opportunity for you and your friends to experience the unique thrill of adventure right here in Kuopio! The event culminates in an all-time rave party, starring amazing artists!

Appro, often translated as bar crawl, is a typical Finnish student event where you visit as many bars as you can and collect stamps from every single one of them. One drink at each bar equals one stamp. At the end, you’ll receive an overall badge according to the number of stamps; the more the merrier!

Pondi enables employments of different lengths so that you can get to know different employers or work tasks already during your studies. What is your Student Association?

Student associations are independent, subject-specific associations. The associations gather together students who study the same subject, which allows for them to get to know their peers and work together in the field of student advocacy. It's a great way to meet new people and attend a variety of activities and events with people studying the same subject as you!

Each student association has their own overalls colour, they are listed in ISYY's student calendars!
