What does the Board do?
The Board is responsible for the daily activities of the Student Union together with the employees. In addition to the activities of the sectors, the duties of the Executive Board members are e.g., student advocacy and interest advocacy, representing the Student Union, and being responsible for implementing the action plan.

The Representative Council elects the Board’s Chairperson, Vice Chair and 4-8 members annually. The Representative Council will elect the new Board in their meeting on 23.11.2023.

In these elections, that are the most important of the time of your studies, we will elect 39 students to represent all ISYY members and to decide on important things in our Student Union, e.g. how the membership fee of ISYY is used and what kind of services we provide to our members?

Friday 3.11.

• Snellmania's sports facilities are open until 3:00 p.m
• Studentia sports facilities are open as usual

Saturday 4.11.

• Snellmania's gym, mirror hall and tatami are closed
• there are no instructed group exercise classes on Saturday
• There is no gym shift in the Kunnonsali
• Studentia gym is open as usual. Dressing rooms are reserved from 10 am to 5 pm for the basketball tournament.

KalPa - Ilves at 6.30pm
KalPa's main partner, Osuma Henkilöstöpalvelut, offers 500 student tickets for the match, of which 150 are for seats and the rest for standing. Tickets have been distributed during the week 43. If there are still tickets left, they will also be distributed on Mon 30.10 and Tue 31.10 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the lobby of UEF's Canthia building and in Savonia in the heart of the Microkatu campus. After the free tickets run out, it is possible to buy tickets at schools for the price of two tickets for the price of one, i.e. €6.

In addition, it is possible to purchase student tickets for the match in advance at the promotional price of two tickets for €6, also at the sales points of KalPa's office and restaurant Pelimies. On the day of the match, tickets from Olvi Areena's door sales point are €7/piece.

UEF info session of 6 November 2023 focuses on the recruitment process of the rectors

Welcome to a UEF info session on Monday, 6 November 2023 at 13:00–13:45. The board of the University of Eastern Finland has started preparations for the recruitment of the rectors. The terms of office of the Rector and the Academic Rector will end on 31 December 2024. Lea Ryynänen-Karjalainen, the Chair of the UEF Board, will provide an overview of the schedule and progress of the recruitment process, as well as of the hearing of the university community during the preparatory work.

The main language of the UEF info session is Finnish; however, the presentation material and summaries will also be available in English. The Viva Engage group serves as a commenting platform during and after the info session.

UEF is looking for new representatives for the YUFE Student Forum!

UEF is now looking for two degree students to join the YUFE Student Forum, especially one bachelor’s and one master’s level student to continue the work of previous representatives. As a YUFE Student Forum member, you will actively work as part of the international YUFE Student Forum and one or more of the YUFE working groups. 

This is a voluntary non-paid opportunity. However, all expenses due to YUFE (e.g., travel costs) will be compensated. We hope the new representatives can start already before the end of 2023.

Nomad of swamps geopoetic workshops: swampt peace

Come join the workshops to create 'time and place' poetry, paint and at the same time explore and sense the nearby nature and Kuopio.
12 people can register for each workshop (13-15 Nov). You can join one, two, or three of them. The workshops are bilingual (English, Finnish).
