ISYY offices' opening hours will change on 2nd of October

From Monday 2nd of October 2023 ISYY campus offices weekly opening hours will change. The change affect the opening hours of Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Opening hours of Wednesday and Friday remain the same.

New opening hours are:

• Mon: 10-12, 13-15
• Tue: 10-12, 13-15
• Wed: 12-16
• Thu: 10-12, 13-15
• Fri: CLOSED

Apply as a Student Representative in UEF administration by 3.10. 12 pm

ISYY's is now accepting applications for student representative positions to the University Board, the University Collegiate Body, and Faculty Councils of the University of Eastern Finland for the term 2024-2025.

As a Student Representative in UEF administation you promote students’ point of view in the decision-making and also bring matters that are important for students into public debate. They also have a right to make proposals and motions in the bodies. Student Representatives can also earn ECTS’s after the working period and they will receive a monetary compenstion for participating in the meetings.

Nomination of candidates ends next week - how to become a candidate?

The nomination of candidates in ISYY Council elections will end next week on Thursday 5.10. at 3 pm. If you are interested, you should familiarise yourself with the instructions on how to become a candidate.

Offers during the Wellbeing week

We have arranged special offers in campus restaurants to celebrate Wellbeing Week. The offers are valid Mon-Fri 2.-6.10.2023.

• Morning porridge for only 1 € (incl. butter) at Snellmania and Canthia at 7.45-9.00 am. To redeem the offer, show your appro pass or say "Wellbeing Week" at the cashier.

 Wellbeing week 2.-7.10.

This year, the theme of the week is reducing sitting and increasing activity during the day. Wellbeing Week kicks off on Monday 2.10. when Care Dogs arrive on campus to be scratched. The dogs arrive in Kuopio to the front of Lukema at 11.30 am-2 pm.

Campuses also have break exercise videos on information boards that can be viewed throughout the week. So stop for a moment at the information board and do some exercise following the instructor. In addition, you can do self-paced exercise at break points on the campuses, e.g. in Kuopio next to the door of lecture hall SN201. Every act of wellbeing is like putting money in the bank.

Coffee & Friends's October

Welcome to students' own café! Coffee & Friends event offers hanging out and the opportunity to meet other students over coffee and a snack. The café meets on Tuesdays at 3-5 pm at Lukema in Kuopio.

You can come to the café alone or with a friend, for a while or for the whole time. By participating, you will get an overall badge. There is also a changing programme. In October there is going to be:

Degree students, remember to pay the FSHS fee!

The healthcare fee for students in higher education to Kela must be paid 2.10. at the latest. You are not billed for the fee but are expected to pay it unprompted. Up-to-date information connected to the fee can be found on Kela’s website.

You do not have to pay the healthcare fee if you have social security coverage from another EU/EEA country, from Switzerland or from Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Find out how to proceed if you have social security coverage in another EU/EEA country, in Switzerland, in Great Britain or in Northern Ireland.

Exchange application period open until 10 Oct!

The application round for YUFE exchanges in spring 2024 is open! Application is open until 10 Oct, 3:00 PM.

You can apply if you have a valid YUFE Student Journey right or if you are planning to complete a YUFE Minor. Check out Kamu for more information about YUFE exchange and list of YUFE Minors!

The 4€ discount tickets can be purchased at the Kuopio Music Centre Ticket sales only on the day of the concert (open Mon-Fri 3-5 pm or until the beginning of the performance and on weekend 1 hour before the performance). The discount price is only valid if there are still tickets left. A valid student card should be presented when purchasing the discount ticket.

ISYY's Movie Club Hyvät Kuvat Autumn Season begins 14.9.

ISYY's Movie Club called Hyvät Kuvat started their autumn season last week. The club presents 11 movies during the autumn on Thursdays at 5.30 pm at the Cinema Kino Kuvakukko (adress: Vuorikatu 27).

The Club sells seasonal tickets, which gives you access to all of the autumn 2023 movies. It is not possible to buy seperate tickets. The price for students is 25€ and for others 30€.

Are you an exchange student? Hyvät Kuvat Movie Club provides 50 free seasonal tickets for exchange students, who are members of ISYY. You can collect your free seasonal ticket only from ISYY office and tha ticket must be collected personally.
 

Would you like to sing in a choir?

UEF Kuopio University Choir is a mixed choir operating at the UEF Kuopio campus. Our singers are composed mainly of current and former students, exchange students, and employees of the University.

Open rehearsals:

• Tue 26.9. 6–8 PM at SN100

During the open rehearsals you can follow along our normal rehearsal, and afterwards auditions are held to test your vocal range from a song of your choosing.

Free beds avaliable in November

Guest rooms of UEF will get new beds and the old still usable beds are available for pick up from 7th of November 2013 to the end of November. Beds with mattresses are 90x200 cm and they were bought in 2011. There will also be a cover. In Canthia beds are located next to entrance A, guest room CA3 (ten beds). Snellmania guest rooms are next to the Melania building (five beds).

You can make the reservation for the beds already. Please contact Jaana Pitkänen via email Jaana.Pitkanen@uef.fi or phone 044 716 2196 on weekdays at 9-15. You must arrange your own transport when picking up the bed.
