Are you interested in teaching your own Language Café?

Leader training is right after the info session on Wednesday 18 September from 9:15 am to 10:15 am on Google Meet so see you there! All Language Café leaders have to attend the leader training, so you can just attend the training and decide after that whether you want to become a leader or not.

Wellbeing Week will be held for the eleventh time at the University of Eastern Finland from 30th of September to 6th of October 2042. The aim of the Wellbeing Week is to offer UEF students and staff a wellbeing promoting programme throughout the week. During Wellbeing Week, a variety of activities will be organised to provide tools to increase one's own wellbeing and support the ability to concentrate.

For example, the Finnish Kennel Club's Care Dogs will visit campuses and a lecture aimed at international students will offer tips on how to survive the Finnish winter and polar night. SYKETTÄ sports services will organise the traditional Sports Afternoon, and the week will culminate with a day trip to Tiilikkajärvi National Park. ISYY will also share on Instagram various wellbeing-related tips.

ITF Taekwon-Do

• 19 September, 17.00 -18.55, Studentia, court 3. This is Taekwon-Do regular shift in court 3.
  • Taekwon-Do basic course starts after that, see below.
• University Taekwon-Do is a group for University of Eastern Finland and University of Applied Sciences undergraduate and postgraduate students and staff.

Swimming technique course 1

• This course is for you if you can swim breaststroke, but you are not used to swimming with your head under water. In this course, we will practise breathing techniques in the water, floating, gliding and basics of freestyle and backstroke swimming. Note! You must have basic swimming skill (swimming 25-50 meters).

• Enroll before 26 September to pj.kuopio@ueftkd.fi
• The course is for all UEF and SAVONIA students and staff. (Participating in the course requires a valid SYKETTÄ membership.)
• Course schedule: Thursdays 17-19, Studentia /Section 3
• Price is 40 € (ITF Taekwon-Do license and memberhip of the club, does not include insurance)

Get to know the TRE-method course

• TRE® (Tension, Stress, and Trauma Releasing Exercises) is a somatic body based practice method that consists of a few warm-up exercises to activate a neurogenic tremor mechanism in the body to release tension. This technique is a good tool for relaxation and to support recovery from stress.

The Basisc of Acrobatics

• In acrobatics, we focus on basic movements, such as somersaults, handstands, cartwheels and various variations of these. We also work a little in pairs and explore different ways to move on the surface of the floor and between the lower and upper levels.

Peace to study!

Demonstration on 25 September 2024 at The Senate Square in Helsinki starting from 12.30 pm. Education, culture and competence will help Finland get through anything. Students are the future of our society. However, we need peace to study, and we have the solutions to ensure this. Join our demand for peace to study!

Schedule and programme

• 12.30 pm: The demonstration meets at the Senate Square
• 1.30 pm: The demonstration sets off towards the Parliament Building
• 2.30 pm: The programme at the Parliament Building begins
• 4.00 pm: The demonstration ends

Mentoring can help you find your strengths and areas for development and encourage you to take on new challenges. Also, the mentors can get new energy and fresh perspectives on their work through students and other talents (actors).

How to apply?

Application for the spring 2025 group mentoring programme is open until 1.10.2024. International students and other talents affiliated in Eastern Finland are eligible to apply.

The mentors leading the groups are professionals/employer organisations from different fields and diverse backgrounds. You will be placed in a mentoring group according to your preference of the mentor (please study the available list of mentor profiles carefully), and give your selection in the application form (you need to select 5 suitable mentor options for you in the order of your preference).

Hello to everyone interested in systematic scientific research

We are now offering a course on the theory and practice of systematic analysis for the early autumn period. The course will be completed with a 12-page essay according to the course guidelines. You can choose one of the course materials and, for example, advance your existing or upcoming thesis by writing a method essay. I aim to provide constructive feedback to help you progress further. The course is well-suited for multidisciplinary use across all academic fields dealing with qualitative questions, and it is designed to be broadly applicable.

You can find the course on Peppi under 2400BQ18 Current Themes in Theology I: Theory and Practice of Systematic Analysis (4 ECTS). 
The deadline for completing the course is 25th October 2024.

The Light Phenomenon, "Valoilmiö", event 24.9.2024!

The event will take place in Savilahti on Tuesday 24.9. Valoilmiö will present three new works of art and lighting and will also introduce other works from the Light/Valo formula. You will also have the chance to meet the artists of the Light Formula!

Free guided walk starts at 18.30 in front of the entrance building of the Savilahti sports and events centre Luola (Loistekatu 12). The tour lasts about 2 hours and ends at the University Shore area.
