City Orienteering

Right after the LoveZone, ISYY’s City Orienteering will start which is organised especially for new students. Teams will go around the campus city's centre and complete fun tasks at the orienteering points. You will meet e.g. student associations and ISYY Clubs at the orienteering points! The starting point for the orienteering is at Kuopio Market Square at 5 pm.

A tutor (or a student from the freshman group if the tutor doesn’t participate in the Orienteering) will register the group of new students to the event via Kide.app. The event is free for new students. Registration for new student groups starts on Monday 2 September at 3:00 pm and ends on Wednesday 4 September at 3:00 pm.

We encourage all City Orienteering teams to dress according to a chosen theme and participate in the city orienteering photo contest!

The after party of the orienteering is in Apteekkari (Vuorikatu 24), which is located near the Market Square. The after party starts at 9 pm and the City Orienteering overall badge serves as the entry ticket to the party.

Tour de Itä-Suomi cycling event comes to Kuopio on 21 September

Cycling event Tour de Itä-Suomi will kick-start the autumn season on Saturday 21 in Kuopio. Offering two cycling routes of different lengths, the event is not a competition — you can pedal at your own pace. You will need your own bike and a cycling helmet.

The start and finish of both the longer and shorter routes are located in both cities at the university campus near the ISYY office. The route is easy in terms of terrain and is run along asphalt roads, with the shorter routes mainly along light traffic routes. On the longer route, more than half of the distance is pedalled on the edge of the road.

There is a service point along the route, and a service van will help you with any minor problems with your bike. If necessary, you and your bike can also be picked up along the route back to the start/finish area of the event. There will also be a first aid team present.

The participation fee for the cycling event is 5 € for ISYY members and 15 € for others. To register for the event, please register in advance on Kide.app. Registration starts on Wednesday 4 September 2024 at 9 am.
