Spinning Maraton 9 May

Are you ready for the challenge? SYKETTÄ spring season culminates in an epic 2,5 hours long spinning marathon! The marathon takes you through different kinds of music styles and decades. Be brave and come along - in indoor cycling class you can always choose a suitable level for yourself.

Get ready for the marathon by eating and drinking plenty during the day! It is also important to eat and drink after the class to recover. You can exit the class anytime if you feel that it is too much or you have somewhere else to be. You will need sports clothes, sports shoes, a small towel and water bottle for this class.

Kilometrikisa – cycling competition 1.5.– 30.9.2023

Kilometrikisa is a light-hearted cycling competition for workplaces, departments, associations, clubs or any other teams. The aim is to encourage bicycle commuting and promote everyday cycling. Kilometrikisa is held between 1.5.–30.9.2023.

In Kilometrikisa every team member will record their cycling kilometers on the website and the team with the highest number of kilometers will win. Also prizes are raffled between all the participants. All students and staff members of UEF and Savonia University of Applied Sciences are welcome to join the SYKETTÄ Kuopio, Iisalmi, Varkaus team!

Registration at the university for the academic year 2023-2024 starts on 1 May 2023

Annual registration for students who are already enrolled at the university (i.e. are in their second, third, etc., year of studies) starts on 1 May 2023 and ends on 15 September 2023. All bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral students must register annually as being present or absent at the university within the registration period.

Telephone consultation from study psychologists in May

UEF’s study psychologists offer individual psychological support for study-related issues, such as motivation, stress, stage fright, time management, procrastination or learning difficulties. It is possible to have telephone consultation with the study psychologists still during this semester. Send a contact request via text message, and the study psychologist will call you during the consultation hours. Include your whole name and your student number in the text message. You can also directly call the study psychologists during the following consultation hours:

Kuopio campus restaurants opening hours in spring and summer season

LAN-party at Kuopio campus by KYYLÄ!

Casual gaming event for the 69th time at Lukema, come and enjoy bad humor and nice LAN-atmosphere. The event starts on 12 May at 6 pm and ends on 14 May at 2 pm. Bring your own PC. Games will be decided between the participants at the event. You can vote for your favorite games when registering for the event in the link below.

The shortest way to work - Pondi

Pondi is a new Savilahti talent pond implemented by KPY and Osuma Henkilöstöpalvelut, where the growing Savilahti area is at the heart with thousands of students and jobs. Pondi connects talents and jobs easily, interestingly and flexibly.

Talent, get to know the employers in the area extensively before you go after your dream job. Pondi enables employments of different lengths so that you can get to know different employers or work tasks already during your studies. You will get good employer contacts and diverse working life skills even before you are ready to commit to a longer-term employment relationship.

A sure sign of spring - the Vilkku city bikes are here again.

You can use the popular city bikes from Monday morning 24 April from 8 am. There are 350 Vilkku city bikes in use, and 41 city bike stations at the start of the season. A few new stations will be added to the station network:

• At the beginning of the season: in the renovated yard of the railway station, between the apartment block and the station building.
• Later in the season: next to Puijo hill, near the chairlift and on Kauppakatu street near Snellmaninpuisto park, between Vuorikatu and Kuninkaankatu streets.

More information: The 4€ discount tickets can be purchased at the Kuopio Music Centre Ticket sales only on the day of the concert (open Mon-Fri 3-5 pm or until the beginning of the performance and on weekend 1 hour before the performance, open hours valid for the time being). The discount price is only valid if there are still tickets left. To access the discount price a valid student card chould be presented when purchasing the ticket.

If you would like to have something featured in the Weekly Feed, please send a short (max. 500 characters including spaces), informative description of the event/activity in English to either kv.kuopio@isyy.fi (Kuopio events) or kv.joensuu@isyy.fi (Joensuu events).

Please include at least the following information: date, time, place, admission fee and the event website/Facebook page. If you want to include pictures, the optimal size is 270 x 270 px.
