What is BRIDGES?

The University of Eastern Finland has received a special grant from the Ministry of Education and Culture for the years 2021-2022 to promote well-being of students and prevent exclusion. The project has several subcontractors, one of which is ISYY. The aim of the BRIDGES project is to reduce the experience of loneliness and to prevent exclusion through activities that increase students' community and well-being.

One-month sticker

This sticker is your choice if you don't want to be tied up for the whole academic year or semester, or you want to get-to-know SYKETTÄ services before buying a long-term membership. One-month sticker (15€) is valid for one calendar month and it includes all SYKETTÄ services.

Instructed group classes go on until May Day. If you want to go to the gym or do ball sports for the whole summer you also can pay for the inexpensive membership for the semester and use SYKETTÄ services until 31th of August.
 

Have you noticed these changes in the Sports Calendar

• Ballet for adults class is held on Tuesdays at 20–21 pm at KRV centre hall
• Starting on 23rd of March, Bellydance class is held on Wednesdays at 17.50–18.50 pm at Snellmania mirror hall
• Floor Barre class is replaced with Vinyasa Yoga 45` class and it is held on Tuesdays at 15.30–16.15 pm at Snellmania tatami
• Changes are added into the Sports Calendar

Motivation Wednesday – support for English speaking students and researchers

Feeling low or overwhelmed? Can’t find motivation to study? Procrastination is getting the better of you? Or simply, feeling lonely? Maybe in Motivation Wednesday you can find the support you need?

University of Eastern Finland’ Student and Learning Services offer now weekly sessions in English on effective learning as well as techniques to boost learning performance and control stress and anxiety. All students and researchers are welcome to join.

The Motivation Wednesday starts on 30.03.2022 at 15.15-17.00 (EET) and will continue to 15.06.2022.  Zoom link to the first meeting here!

UEF students, develop your study and working-life skills in online trainings!

“Keys to Well-being – 5 Steps towards Future Work Skills” online trainings are designed to improve self-management skills, which are increasingly important in the changing world of work and study. Transformation of work requires new skills and competences: time and self-management skills, resilience and adaptability, collaboration skills, new ways of thinking, taking care of well-being and finding meaning in our work.

The online trainings consist of short videos as well as in-depth trainings. The trainings can be accessed flexibly at any time that suits you. They are free of charge to UEF staff and students, and they are available until January 31, 2023. The shortest way to work - Pondi

Pondi is a new Savilahti talent pond implemented by KPY and Osuma Henkilöstöpalvelut, where the growing Savilahti area is at the heart with thousands of students and jobs. Pondi connects talents and jobs easily, interestingly and flexibly.

Talent, get to know the employers in the area extensively before you go after your dream job. Pondi enables employments of different lengths so that you can get to know different employers or work tasks already during your studies. You will get good employer contacts and diverse working life skills even before you are ready to commit to a longer-term employment relationship.

Solve the SDGs hackathon (Online)

We warmly invite your students and network to our upcoming Solve the SDGs hackathon from April 22 - 24, 2022 (EEST). The hackathon is organized by Aalto Ventures Program in collaboration with Junction. Solve the SDGs is a hybrid hackathon where we create solutions for Sustainable Development Goals.

The hackathon is open for participants from all backgrounds - both students and non-students; no prior hacking experience is necessary. Participation is free of charge. Join us in April virtually from anywhere in the world to shape the future! If you are in Finland, you are more than welcome to join us at Startup Sauna, Espoo. If you would like to have something featured in the Weekly Feed, please send a short (max. 500 characters including spaces), informative description of the event/activity in English to either kv.kuopio@isyy.fi (Kuopio events) or kv.joensuu@isyy.fi (Joensuu events).
