Happy Tuesday!

ISYY's Association Day event is held in Kuopio on Wednesday, 12 March. During the event, ISYY clubs, student associations, campus associations and other local associations showcase their activities. It is a great opportunity to look for a new hobby, find something new to do in your spare time or to make new friends. The associations also sell overall patches at the event. So go to Snellmania's lobby tomorrow between 10 am and 2 pm!

Interest advocacy updates from February

• ISYY organised association training for student associations, where topics such as the change in alcohol laws were discussed. 
• ISYY's board members attended the SYL opening seminar in Tampere, where current issues were discussed.
• Communication with FSHS (Student Health Services) has been maintained through a meeting where updates from both ISYY and FSHS were shared, and future inspections related to the study environment were discussed.
• In the Keva (sustainability & responsibility) group, the University of Eastern Finland's procurement guidelines were reviewed, and there was a discussion on sustainable public procurement. In addition, a meeting was held with Student and Learning Services.

ISYY’s Interest Advocacy Coffee Breaks are here!

ISYY’s Interest Advocacy Coffee Breaks will be held in Kuopio at Canthia (CA304) and in Joensuu at Aurora (AU101) on 18.3. at 15.00-16.00.

All those members interested in student advocacy are welcome to discuss with the ISYY board and subject association representatives over coffee, tea and snacks.

The theme of this event is getting to know each other, learning environments and methods, and planning future coffee breaks together! The sessions are organised simultaneously on both campuses, so we can establish a remote connection between the campuses.

New SYKETTÄ website and mobile app

SYKETTÄ Kuopio has a new look, the website has been updated, and new apps are now available for download!

You can download the new apps from both the App Store and Google Play. You can still register for classes in the familiar way through our website. The user can activate themselves as present for the class either with a QR code or a numeric code provided by the instructor.

Note! If you notice any problems using the app or the website's booking calendar, please report them using the error report form. This will allow us to fix the errors as quickly as possible.

Physical activity counselling is for you, who needs advice and counselling to increase moving and you want to hear more about how to promote well-being.

Major Service Interruption in Peppi 11-13 March 2025

Due to the installation of Peppi version 5.2, there will be a service interruption from 11th to 13th March 2025. To anticipate the service interruption, do these on 10th March at the latest, if needed:

• Complete your registration for the course units and exams on Peppi, on Tuudo or on EXAM.
• Check and save teaching timetables and links for remote lectures (e.g. teams, zoom). Teaching timetables can be seen on Tuudo during the service interruption.
• Download your transcript of records or study certificate on Peppi.

The new version of Peppi improves technical functionality and includes new developments related to cross-institutional studies and the Opin.fi service, as well as bug fixes.

Remember to pay the FSHS Healthcare Fee for spring term!

Degree students please note that you have to remember to pay the FSHS Healthcare fee for spring semester. The 2025 rate of the student healthcare fee is EUR 35.60 per term. You are not billed for the fee but are expected to pay it unprompted. See instructions from the site linked below.

The due date for the spring term is 15 March, if you have registered as attending by 31 January. If you register as attending for the spring term on or after 1 February, the due date is 31 July.

You do not have to pay the healthcare fee if you have social security coverage from another EU/EEA country, from Switzerland or from Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Appro, often translated as bar crawl, is a student event where you visit as many bars as you can and collect stamps from them. One drink or a food portion at each bar equals one stamp. At the end, you’ll receive overall badges according to the number of stamps; the more the merrier!

Free Kuopio250-events this week

Your orchestra's visit, Tue 11.3. at 17.30-18.15 at main Library, 2 floor
To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the city, Kuopio City Orchestra's small ensembles visit the main library in spring 2025 with musical performances. Each time a different guest will also be interviewed. Free admission.

Sewing club: jeans mending and Birth/Depth performance, Wed 12.3. at 14-18.30 at the Kuopio Museum's multifunctional space
Come and mend broken jeans or trousers to make them wearable. The evening will feature samples from ITAK's production. The work is a collaboration between dancer Outi Markkula, musician Emilia Lajunen and scenographer Jaana Kurttila. Performance time at 17.30. Free admission.

Coffee & Friends 

The café meets on Tuesdays at 3-5 pm at Lukema in Kuopio. 

Coffee & Friends event offers low-threshold hanging out after lectures and the opportunity to meet other students over coffee and a snack. All students of the University of Eastern Finland are welcome to Coffee & Friends. You can come to the café alone or with a friend. In addition, Coffee & Friends has a changing chill programme. Participation in the programme is voluntary and you can come for a while or for the whole time. Participation is free of charge and does not require pre-registration.

Library Language Cafés

The Library Language Cafés are open, relaxed events where you can practice speaking Finnish in a comfortable atmosphere. When you strike up a conversation, it’s easy to get to know new people and cultures. Of course, you can also participate just by listening!

Library staff will also take part in the games and conversations and collect ideas for future gatherings.

So come along, bring a relaxed attitude and a smile. You can take your whole family with you if you like. Coffee and tea available!

The events are free of charge, and need no signing up. Welcome!
