HAPPY TUESDAY!

The evenings are getting darker since it's already October. Now during dark, it’s almost impossible for drivers to spot pedestrians or people riding a bike without a reflector, especially outside the city centre. Get yourself one or two and wear them on your jacket and bag so you can be seen when you're outside in the evening.

Also, cyclists need to get lights for their bike to improve their visibility. It's mandatory to have a red tail light and a white/yellow front light when you ride at dusk or in the dark. This is required by law, and you will get a fine if you’re spotted without the bike lights. You can get a bike light set from any major supermarket.

Next week is the autumn holiday week in North Karelia, which means ISYY offices and the Weekly Feed newsletter are taking a little break. Next Weekly Feed is published on Tuesday 22.10.!

Kind regards,
Salla
Coordinator of International Affairs

Open Educational Resources: What Works, What Doesn't? – Participate in the Survey and Make an Impact

The library is investigating various platform solutions for UEF’s open educational resources. We need your input for this study, UEF member! The goal is to find a user-friendly and modern platform for creating, publishing, and using open educational resources. This new platform would gather UEF’s open educational resources in one place for learners to find and use, complementing the existing learning environments.

What’s it about? UEF is committed to promoting open learning. Open educational resources are materials intended for teaching and learning that are freely available online and discoverable by search engines. They enable learning at your own pace, anytime and anywhere. The material can be entirely released for public use (public domain) or shared under a CC license, which specifies the conditions under which the work can be reused. You can explore open educational resources by checking out the UEF library’s open educational resources or the national aoe.fi service.

The survey is open 7–27 October 2024. Fill in the survey from the link below:
