From this weeks newsletter you'll find events and news for the upcoming two weeks! ISYY's newsletters will have an autumn break next week and the next Weekly Feed will arrive to your email after two weeks on Tuesday 24 October. Notice also that our offices are closed next week.

Today the ISYY Association Days has begun in Joensuu. The event is held in Carelia lobby 10.-11.10. from 10 am to 2 pm.

ISYY offices are closed for the Autumn Holidays 16.-22.10.

Please notice that ISYY offices are closed for the whole next week (16.-22.10.2023) because of the Autumn Holidays. If you are planning to visit us, it is a good idea to do that during this week.

The ISYY office opening hours and exceptions in them can always be found from ISYY.fi frontpage.

New student, join ISYY's Freshman Bingo!

ISYY organises a 'Fuksibingo' aka Freshman Bingo to kick-start the academic year for our new students. By completing at least one bingo row, you'll get an ISYY FUKSI (Freshman) overall badge and you can take part in the Freshman Bingo Raffle. NB! There is a limited amount of overall badges on both campuses, so it is a good idea to take this chance quickly!

You can save the bingo sheet to yourself electronically from ISYY website or you can collect a printed bingo sheet from ISYY office. The Freshman Bingo must be completed by 13.12.2023 at 3 pm!

ISYY Council meeting 24.10. at 5 pm

ISYY Council will hold its next meeting 6/2023 after two weeks on Tuesday 24 October at 5 pm. At the meeting the Council will, among other things, decide the amount of the ISYY membership fee for the Academic Year 2024-2025. The ISYY Council will also make the decision about acquisition of a new office facility in Joensuu. This decision is shifted from the previous meetings, that did not have a quorum.

The meeting notice will be publish a week earlier on ISYY website. You'll find the meeting notice then from the News sections. The meeting can be followed in the classrooms named in the meeting notice or via ISYY's YouTube channel.

ISYY's Interest Advocacy Coffee Break on 16.10.

The next coffee break of this year will be held on Monday 16th of October in Joensuu AU205 from 5 pm to 6.30 pm. You are warmly welcome to come to discuss themes related to student advocacy with the ISYY board and student associations. The event is open for all ISYY members, who are interested in student advocacy.

There will be coffee / tea and some snacks served. To attend the coffee break you don’t need to register, but if you have any allergies or other special diets, please inform Mirka Nieminen (mirka.nieminen(at)isyy.fi) by 13th of October.

Association Days 10.-11.10.

The Association Days gathers together student and campus associations, ISYY clubs and other organisations close to students. During the event associations and clubs present their activities at the campus to students. Maybe you'll find something fun or a new community for your free time.

It is a good idea to have some money with you, if you wish to purchase some overall patches from student associations. The event is free and you don't need to register yourself.

Come and get to know the association and clubs!

This autumns Association Days will be held 10.-11.10. from 10 am to 2 pm in Joensuu, Carelia Lobby, and 11.10. from 10 am to 2 pm in Kuopio, Snellmania Lobby. The event in Joensuu lasts two days because of the bigger amount of student associations.

Who are you going to vote? Get to know the Candidate Lists and Candidates!

The ISYY Representative Council elections are held 8.11.2023. The Combination of Candidate Lists is published on ISYY website 11.10.2023. On the same date the Candidate Gallery in Tuudo is published. In Tuudo's Candidate Gallery you will get to know each candidate better! The Voting Aid organised by SYL will be published soon to help you decide your candidate.

The Candidate Lists have an opportunity to represent their list on ISYY's Instagram and Facebook on week 43 starting on Monday 23 October. So follow our channels, and you'll learn more about our Candidate Lists.

The Voting will be happening this year in Tuudo, at tha same place where you'll find the Candidate Gallery on 11 October. The Advance Voting begins 31 October and the last chance to vote is the Actual Election Day 8 November 2023. Now you have a good time to familiarize yourself with the different lists and candidates and decide, who is going to get your vote?

Get to know the Candidates in ISYY Electoral Panel 24.10.

ISYY is organising Electoral Panels for the Candidates in the ISYY Representative Council Elections both in Joensuu and Kuopio. The Panel Discussion in Joensuu will be held on Tuesday 24 October at 12 pm (noon) in Carelia lobby at the same time with the ISYY Election Campaigning Days. Come to the place and learn more about the candidates!

SYKETTÄ Joensuu

SYKETTÄ includes sport services for the students and staff members at the University of Eastern Finland and Karelia University of Applied Sciences. You can see the prices for each sticker on the SYKETTÄ website and you can buy your sticker online or from the ISYY office. Remember to create a user account with your uef email before you try to buy a sticker or enroll to classes.

Exceptions in schedules during the autumn break week

During week 42 (16.-22.10.) instructed classes and turns held at Joensuu city sports facilities are on vacation. Gyms and part of ball sports turns held in our own sports facilities are normally available. Tulliportinkatu school is out of use for the entire week due to lighting renovation.

Floorball League - Säbäliiga

Floorball is one of the most popular team sports in Finland. The student Floorball League on the Joensuu campus, better known as Säbäliiga, is the biggest student leagues organized by volunteers. The Floorball League moves around 250 students on the Joensuu campus. The League will be played in two series, the Challenger and the Competitive series. Team fee for season 2023-2024 is 75€. Each player needs either SYKETTÄ ball games or group exercise sticker. Enroll your team now!

Teams must enroll for the series until 15.10.2023, games will start in October.

Basketball League - Susiliiga

The student Basketball League - Susiliiga will be organized for the first time on the Joensuu campus. The League will be played on Saturdays with street basketball rules. Team fee for season 2023-2024 is 10€. Each player needs either SYKETTÄ ball games or group exercise sticker. Enroll your team now!

Teams will enroll for the league until 15.10.2023, and games will start in October.

Greetings from the coordinator

Hello! Wellbeing Week is behind us, but the health promotion is not going to be on hold for the next 51 weeks. We make choices every day related to our own wellbeing. Wellbeing is not a sprint. Our choices are not only about promoting our wellbeing, but also about maintaining it. The important thing is to want to feel good every day. Let's try our best to accept the feeling of unfinished - the world is not finished, so we don't have to be either <3 With these deep thoughts, I wish you a great week!

Give feedback for the Wellbeing Week

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Wellbeing Week! We would like to collect feedback on the week so that we can improve it for the future. You can also respond even if you did not participate in the Wellbeing Week program. Your feedback will be discussed with the planning team. Remember to return your appro pass!

If you participated in the WellbeingAppro, remember to return your completed appro pass to the ISYY office on Thu 12th of October by 3 pm. In exchange for your completed pass, you will receive an overall badge and the chance to take part in a raffle for a wellbeing product package. The ISYY office is open:

Coffee & Friends's October

Welcome to students' own café! Coffee & Friends event offers hanging out and the opportunity to meet other students over coffee and a snack. The café meets on Tuesdays at 3-5 pm at Lukema in Kuopio and at 4.30-6.30 pm at Aurora in the AU110 fireplace room in Joensuu.

You can come to the café alone or with a friend, for a while or for the whole time. From participation you will get an overall badge. There is also organized a changing program. In October there is going to be:

Night of Horror 25.10.

On Wednesday 25th of October, Ilona will be filled up with the most frightening monsters in Joensuu, when Tombolo ry organizes the traditional, interdisciplinary Halloween Party in Ilona for all students. Take your friends with you and head to Ilona to enjoy the creepiest party of the year!

Joensuu Board Gamers: Jokicon is back!

Come play familiar board games with us or learn some new ones. The whole collection of the board game club Joensuu Board Gamers is at your disposal. You can also bring your own games, if you wish. The event is non-alcoholic. Joensuu Board Gamers is an ISYY Club.

This is an issue of Weekly Feed at Joensuu campus. Weekly Feed is the English language newsletter of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY). You are receiving this letter on your email because you are a member of ISYY and are studying at Joensuu campus or because you have joined the mailing list yourself.

Weekly Feed provides you with current information on matters related to the Student Union, UEF or other organisations close to students, such as FSHS. In addition, the newsletter provides you with information on events taking place at campus or the campus city.
