Apply for ISYY's May Day-team!

Vappu never ends and here we go again! Are you interested in organising and fulfilling ISYY’s May Day traditions or even developing something completely new? If you are interested in organising events, and you want to be part of making the most epic student May Day ever in Joensuu or Kuopio, this team is for you! Previous experience with ISYY is not required.

We are looking for committed team members from both campuses. Committed team members will get tickets for Savo-Karjala excursion for free! The term of the team is 1.3.2022-15.5.2022.

May Day-team is expected to arrange certain May Day traditions, but there is also room for new ideas. Both campuses have traditional and epic Sawo-Karjala-excursion. In Joensuu, the traditions include May Day parade and Student Union’s speech. In Kuopio, the traditions include washing of the Tooth statue at Lukema, Ordination to sophistication, May Day event by the market square, where the Velj’mies statue is washed and gets a graduation cap.

ISYY’s Executive Board member Sonja Soinne operates as the team’s contact person the whole time of the team’s term.

The University of Eastern Finland has received a special grant from the Ministry of Education and Culture for the years 2021-2022 to promote the well-being of students and increase commonality. SYKETTÄ Joensuu

SYKETTÄ includes sport services for the students and staff members at the University of Eastern Finland and Karelia University of Applied Sciences. You can see the prices for each sticker on the SYKETTÄ website and you can buy your sticker online or from the ISYY office. Remember to create a user account with your uef email before you try to buy a sticker or enroll to classes. Physical stickers are available to purchase at the ISYY office. Spring 2022 stickers are valid until 31.8.2022 so you can use the services during the summer as well!

The new Conservatory of Music on campus is not inteded for UEF students

The premises of Konservatorio (Conservatory of Music) are not open to the UEF students. There are places like Olola in the Library or the lobby in Metria, where you can spend time together and interact freely.

• Download and use Koronavilkku app which helps you to track exposure to the virus.
• You can take Omaolo symptom assessment online at www.omaolo.fi. (Available in Finnish and English).
• You can also call the Medical Helpline 116117, which is open 24/7. Your situation will be assessed over the phone and you will get instructions.
• University of Eastern Finland recommends face masks to staff and students

BRIDGES: Intercultural Communication with Susanna (17.2 at 4pm @Zoom)

Fill out our survey and win an Interrail ticket valid for travel across 33 countries

In cooperation with the European Students' Union, the Erasmus+ project ENTRANTS aims at providing support measures to increase the social and academic integration of beginner students to prevent and counteract early dropout.

To find out what (beginner) students need and what challenges and obstacles are seen as most pressing, we have created a survey carried out across different institutions in Europe. This survey will help make the student voice heard and develop support mechanisms helpful to students.

Three Interrail tickets valid for travel across 33 European countries will be drawn from the study's participants (among those students who choose to enter their email, otherwise the survey is entirely anonymous).

The survey will be accessible until March 1st. Completing the survey also allows you to win prizes!

Asia Exchange webinars

What is my Student Organisation? 

Student Organisations are independent, subject-specific associations. Student Organisations gather together students who study the same subject, which allows for them to get to know their peers and work together in the field of student advocacy. It's a great way to meet new people and attend a variety of activities and events with people studying the same subject as you! 

Each Student Organisation has their own overalls colour, they are listed in ISYY's student calendars! You can watch this Youtube video to learn more about the Finnish higher education overall tradition.

Information about Weekly Feed

This is an issue of Weekly Feed at Joensuu campus. Weekly Feed is the English language newsletter of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY). You are receiving this letter on your email because you are a member of ISYY and are studying at Joensuu campus or because you have joined the mailing list yourself. 

Weekly Feed provides you with current information on matters related to the Student Union, UEF or other organisations close to students, such as FSHS. In addition, the newsletter provides you with information on events taking place at campus or the campus city.

Weekly Feed is published on Tuesdays during the academic year, with the exception of holidays and a few other days. If you do not want to receive the newsletter anymore, you can unsubscribe the letter via the link (Click here to unsubscribe) located on the bottom of the letter.
