Sitsit is a Finnish higher education tradition where students gather together for a dinner party to sing, eat and enjoy each other's company (with a few rules in place to make it fun). ISYY's international club JEIS organises Music Sitsit on Monday 25.11. Exceptions in ISYY offices opening hours and Christmas break

The ISYY offices in Joensuu and Kuopio are closed on Thursday 28 November

This year the offices are open for the last time on Thursday 12 December.

If you must visit ISYY offices before the holidays, please do that during the first weeks of December. The offices will be open again on January.

Present your ISYY Freshman Bingo by 27 November and join the raffle!

ISYY's Freshman Bingo is organised to kick-start the academic year for our new students. By completing at least one bingo row, you'll get an ISYY FUKSI overall patch and you can take part in the Freshman Bingo Raffle.

All those who presents the bingo sheet at the ISYY office can leave their contact info to the raffle, where you can win gift cards to a café.

You can save the bingo sheet to yourself electronically from ISYY website or you can collect a printed bingo sheet from ISYY office. The Freshman Bingo must be completed by 27.11.2024 at 3 pm!

Coffee & Friends event offers low-threshold hanging out after lectures and the opportunity to meet other students over coffee and a snack. All UEF students are welcome to Coffee & Friends! Participation in the programme is voluntary and you can come for a while or for the whole time. Participation is free of charge and does not require pre-registration.

UEF Startup Day arrives to Joensuu Campus on November 28 

Join us for entrepreneurship stories, pizza and coffee! UEF Startup Day will be held for the fourth time in November 2024, once again on the Joensuu campus in the lobby of the Carelia building on Thursday, November 28, from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM.

The event will showcase examples of how the skills of university students and researchers can lead to the creation of companies and business ventures. There will also be information sessions on entrepreneurship services and studies offered by the university, as well as on support activities and networks provided by stakeholders to promote entrepreneurship.

JEIS Music sitsit (25.11.)

Is your inner rockstar waiting to step in to the spotlight? Or is it finally time to have that world tour you've been practicing while getting ready to have an audience? 

Now it's your time to shine on JEIS's music sitsit! Take your friends and dress up as your favorite musicians or even as an instrument! Let your creativity take control!

Sitsit are held in Educa at E200 on 25th of November between 6pm-11pm. Arrive at least 15 minutes before sitsit are set to start in E200!

Tickets are 10€ and are sold on Kide.app. Ticket sale ends 20.11 at 23.55, be quick! One ticket per person!

Think you’re a quiz whiz? Are you ready to flex those brain muscles? Join us for a quiz night at Bar Play! 

You better bring your A-game for this evening filled with fun, laughter and a little friendly competition.

So gather up your smartest friends and form a team of up to five people to challenge fellow brainiacs. You may also sign up alone and we'll do our very best to assign you to a worthy team!

Clothes Swap (20.11.)

Do you have clothes you don’t wear anymore? The Clothes Swap event will now be organized on both campuses! Bring clothes you don’t use and exchange them for another piece of clothing. Bring max. 5 pieces of clothing. The clothes must be in good condition; we will not accept broken or dirty clothes. 

At Joensuu campus, the event will be at Educa hall E200 on Wednesday 20.11. at 12.30–3.30 pm. At Kuopio campus, the event will be in the main lobby of Snellmania on Wednesday 20.11. & Thursday 21.11. at 11.00–2.30 pm.

Clothes Swap event is organised by ISYY's Sustainable Lifestyle Club in collab with Joensuu's Exchange and International Students (JEIS) & Hyeena. 

Salsa del Este ry: Salsa party in Gloria (23.11.) 

Last Salsa Party of the fall semester! Let's get together and dance to the rhythms of salsa, bachata, and kizomba! As usual, the location is the back room of Gloria in the center of Joensuu. If you don't have any previous dance experience, don't worry—just ask, and we'll help you get started!

KAVI classic movies in autumn 2024

The National Audiovisual Institute KAVI and Pohjois-Karjalan Elokuvayhdistys offer screenings of classic films in Tapio movie theater Mondays at 4:30pm. Tickets 7€ for each film. You can purchase tickets from the Savon Kinot website or from the movie theater (Kauppakatu 27).

Upcoming films this autumn include e.g. The Crow, Boys Don't Cry, Phantasm, Singin' in the Rain and Inland Empire.

Art Center Ahjo

Art Center Ahjo is located right in the heart of Joensuu, in the art quarter opposite Joensuu's art museum ONNI. Ahjo is an art center that responds quickly and is open to new art forms. Various exhibitions and events are organized in the art center and we strive to present both national and international art. Art Center Ahjo is maintained by Joensuun Taiteilijaseura ry.
