How the voting is done? How the Tuudo voting works?

All ISYY members, how have registered as a present student in UEF and paid the ISYY membership fee by 24.10.2023 are entitled to vote in these elections!

Advace Coting begins on Tuesday 31 October at 8 am and will end on 7 November midnight at 12.00 am. The voting on the Actual Election Day 8 November will begin right away at 00.01 am and will end at 6.00  pm.

Shortly, the voting in Tuudo works like this:

1. Go to the Tuudo's Election Site via app or browser: vaalit.tuudo.fi.
2. Select your shool and log in with your UEF user account (HAKA).
3. Click the "ISYY Representative Council elections 2023" and you will be shifted to the voting view. From the second tab, you'll find the Candidate Gallery.
4. Select your candidate from the Voting View and confirm the vote by clicking the confirm button.

SYKETTÄ Joensuu

SYKETTÄ includes sport services for the students and staff members at the University of Eastern Finland and Karelia University of Applied Sciences. You can see the prices for each sticker on the SYKETTÄ website and you can buy your sticker online or from the ISYY office. Remember to create a user account with your uef email before you try to buy a sticker or enroll to classes.

Sports courses of autumn:

For the workshop you need: a water bottle, comfortable training clothes, dance/sport shoes or socks. There is a light wooden floor in Mehtimäkihalli, so black-soled shoes are prohibited. 

You don't need your own partner of dance experience for the workshops. The instructions are in both English and Finnish. Teaching methods are gender-neutral. Once a week we go through four dances. You may join one session or all four of them. 

Historical dances are social court dances from the European Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Empire eras. The information about them is based on the notebooks of dance masters, and they have been reconstructed from historical sources, including the music. Nowadays, new dances based on historical choreographies and modern music are also created.

Course participants are welcome to the Academic History Ball of the University of Eastern Finland on Saturday 18 November 2023 in the ballroom of Art Museum Onni. All the dances of the course are danced at the ball. Click here for more information about the Autumn Ball and for contact information.

Greetings from the coordinator

Hello! As already mentioned a couple of times, the BRIDGES project will end by the end of December 2023. The project funding is in its final stages and it's time to start writing the project report, which means that there will be no more project events for the rest of the year. Coffee & Friends info can be found from ISYY's current topics from next week forward. So this will be the last greeting in this news section :( But let's not be sad, because the work ISYY has been doing to promote the communality does not end here. We will inform you about our plans for the future as the autumn progresses, so keep an eye on ISYY's channels. At this point, I would like to thank everyone for these project years; we could not have done this project so well without you. Have a wonderful autumn!<3

UEF info session of 6 November 2023 focuses on the recruitment process of the rectors

Welcome to a UEF info session on Monday, 6 November 2023 at 13:00–13:45. The board of the University of Eastern Finland has started preparations for the recruitment of the rectors. The terms of office of the Rector and the Academic Rector will end on 31 December 2024. Lea Ryynänen-Karjalainen, the Chair of the UEF Board, will provide an overview of the schedule and progress of the recruitment process, as well as of the hearing of the university community during the preparatory work.

The main language of the UEF info session is Finnish; however, the presentation material and summaries will also be available in English. The Viva Engage group serves as a commenting platform during and after the info session.

UEF is looking for new representatives for the YUFE Student Forum! 

UEF is now looking for two degree students to join the YUFE Student Forum, especially one bachelor’s and one master’s level student to continue the work of previous representatives. As a YUFE Student Forum member, you will actively work as part of the international YUFE Student Forum and one or more of the YUFE working groups.

This is a voluntary non-paid opportunity. However, all expenses due to YUFE (e.g., travel costs) will be compensated. We hope the new representatives can start already before the end of 2023.

This is an issue of Weekly Feed at Joensuu campus. Weekly Feed is the English language newsletter of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY). Weekly Feed provides you with current information on matters related to the Student Union, UEF or other organisations close to students, such as FSHS. In addition, the newsletter provides you with information on events taking place at campus or the campus city.
