Hello! Next week is the Wellbeing Week, and it is one of the biggest projects for me this fall. During the week, there is a diverse program on both campuses and online. Just reminding you that 6.10. movie nights are organized in both cities, where participation is free of charge. You can find more information about them, schedules and the whole week's program on ISYY's website. I wish you a wonderful Wellbeing Week in advance!

SYKETTÄ Joensuu

SYKETTÄ includes sport services for the students and staff members at the University of Eastern Finland and Karelia University of Applied Sciences. You can see the prices for each sticker on the SYKETTÄ website and you can buy your sticker online or from the ISYY office. Remember to create a user account with your uef email before you try to buy a sticker or enroll to classes. Physical stickers are available to purchase at the ISYY office. Spring 2022 stickers are valid until 31.8.2022. Please follow our hygiene and safety instructions

Welcome to respond to the survey!

The aim of the survey is to obtain diverse information on students’ experiences and views on learning and studying in higher education. We hope that every higher education student will respond to the survey based on their own experiences of studying. Everyone’s answer is important.

The deadline for responding is 7.10.2022. Responding takes around 20-25 minutes. Answer to the survey here. 

The survey is part of the Evaluation of the state and reform of higher education pedagogy, which is implemented by the Finnish Education Evaluation Centre (FINEEC). Some of the answers may be used in the Evaluation of Government’s key projects for higher education 2017–2022. Once the evaluation has been completed, the responses will be archived, and they can be handed over for research use. The answers that will be archived will be anonymised. The results of the survey will be reported in a way that makes it impossible to identify individual respondents.

Would you like to participate in the first YUFETHON of our university?

What is it? It is an online event where participants will meet for two days (20h) to work intensively on a
solution to a real problem. Participants will work in small groups in a unique environment that encourages creative thinking. Would you dare to participate in our First Edition? As an UEF student, you can gain credits from participating the YUFE Challenge Teams.

What is my Student Association? 

Student Associations are independent, subject-specific associations. Student Associations gather together students who study the same subject, which allows for them to get to know their peers and work together in the field of student advocacy. It's a great way to meet new people and attend a variety of activities and events with people studying the same subject as you! 

Each Student Association has their own overalls colour, they are listed in ISYY's student calendars! You can watch this Youtube video to learn more about the Finnish higher education overall tradition.

Welcome to Susiraja-Appro in Joensuu on the 6th of October 2022!

Appros is an interdisciplinary pub crawl -event, where you collect stamps for every bar you visit. In Susiraja-Appro, we will tour local bars and restaurants and collect stamps for your appro-degrees. Are you ready to participate in the cold adventure where you only get to warm up and escape the wolves howling at the check points?

• general information and guidance on day-to-day life in Joensuu
• you need information about the services in Joensuu
• residence permits and applying for Finnish citizenship

New courses in career & job seeking skills

The UEF Career Services offers courses on career planning and job seeking. They are open to all bachelor’s and master’s degree students. Starting from spring 2023, each 1-ECTS course will be available in English twice a year. This academic year, they will belaunched as follows:

“Keys to Well-being – 5 Steps towards Future Work Skills” online trainings are designed to improve self-management skills, which are increasingly important in the changing world of work and study. Transformation of work requires new skills and competences: time and self-management skills, resilience and adaptability, collaboration skills, new ways of thinking, taking care of well-being and finding meaning in our work.

The online trainings consist of short videos as well as in-depth trainings. The trainings can be accessed flexibly at any time that suits you. They are free of charge to UEF staff and students, and they are available until January 31, 2023.
