The Representative Council of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY) held its fourth meeting of this year on Thursday 26 September.
The ISYY Council decided after a lengthy discussion and rounds of voting that it will establish a permanent position for ISYY’s Community Coordinator.
The Representative Council listened to comments the Executive Board had made to the National Union of University Students in Finland’s (SYL) General Assembly documents and approved the distribution of delegate seats in the SYL General Assemblies in 2024 and 2025 according to as the Executive Board had proposed. Additionally, the Council voted Mirka Nieminen as ISYY’s candidate to SYL Board 2025. You can read more about the election of Nieminen from ISYY’s announcement linked below.
In addition, the Representative Council elected Lassi Oikkonen (Keskeiset) as a new member for the Rules Committee. The ISYY Council also listened to ISYY’s 8-month financial review and updated some terms used in the Symbol Regulations of the Student Union.
At the end of the meeting, council members from Vihreä lista proposed three proposed resolutions. The first was about student accommodation, the second about ISYY staff’s occupational health care and the third about creating a team for the Community Coordinator.
