Call for Applicants: Student deputy representative for the Equality Committee of the University of Eastern Finland

The Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland is looking for one (1) student deputy representative for the Equality Committee of the University of Eastern Finland for a term lasting until the end of 2025, to fill a recently vacated student representative position.

The University's Equality Committee supervises and directs the education provider's and employer's obligation to promote equality in their operations required by the equality act (1325/2014). The Equality Committee prepares an equality program for the University of Eastern Finland and monitors its progress and implementation. The Equality Committee also makes presentations and initiatives to the university's management and staff on how to promote equality in UEF’s operations.

A meeting fee is paid for the meetings of the Equality Committee. The working language of the committee is Finnish. If the native language of a member is not Finnish, participation in meetings can be made possible by translating the meeting documents into English and by using a translator. ECTS credits can be applied for working in the committee after the term has ended.

Eligible to apply as a student member of the Equality Committee is a person who has the right to complete a master’s or bachelor’s degree or licentiate, or doctoral degree at the University of Eastern Finland, or a student who has the right to study as an alumni student. A person being in over 10 % employment relationship with the University is not qualified to apply to the university bodies as a student (University of Eastern Finland Election Regulations, Section 2). Experience in equality work and an interest in activities promoting equality and advancing equality efforts will be considered an advantage for the applicant.

Applications with justifications and possible CVs shall be submitted to the specialist of the Student Union Mikko Aaltonen via e-mail to address koso(at)isyy.fi by 12 pm (noon) on Wednesday 29 January 2025.

The decision on the selection of the student deputy representative will be made by the Student Union's Board in its meeting.
