Finnish Student Health Foundation operates as a provider of student health care services in accordance with the Law on Student Health Care (659/2019). The purpose of the foundation, according to its rules, is "to take care of the health care of students at universities and colleges, as well as to support and promote scientific research that serves this purpose in one way or another."
FSHF operates nationwide but is divided into five regions for the implementation of its mission. The students at the University of Eastern Finland are included in the activities of the Eastern region.
The student union of the University of Eastern Finland is looking for one (1) student representative for the board of the eastern region for the term of office 1 January 2023 – 31 December 2024.
The board of the eastern region consists of the chairman and vice-chairman and at least six and at most eight other members. At least two and at most four of the members must represent student unions and student unions of Applied Sciences belonging to the region's jurisdiction, as well as one the personnel of the region. From the student unions, ISYY nominates one representative to the executive board and JYY the other.
The board does not make decisions and does not bear financial responsibility, but is a body intended for communication and exchange of information between stakeholders and YTHS. However, the board of directors has the right to take initiatives and bring any matter it wants to the FSHF board of directors and have its representatives attend its meetings.
According to the FSHF rules: "The board's task is to monitor the area's activities and changes in the operating environment, as well as study community work and health promotion activities in the area.
The board deals with matter of the reduction and addition of service points belonging to the region and other matters that significantly affect the operation of the region. The board of directors cooperates with universities, colleges, student unions, student unions of Applied Sciences, public health care in the region and other entities related to student health care.
A member of the board has the right to bring issues related to the service area to the board meeting for discussion.
The board of directors also deals with other matters referred to it by the board, CEO or regional manager."
Meeting fee is paid for the position.
Eligible to become a member of the YTHS regional executive board is every member of the student union who has paid their membership fee on time and registered to be present for the current semester. Familiarity with student welfare and student healthcare is considered an advantage for the applicant. The person to be elected is decided by the board of the student union of the University of Eastern Finland.
