The Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland
According to the Symbol Regulations of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY), ISYY may award recognitions for people who have distinguishably acted within the Student Union. Most recognitions come with a Medal that is worn with ISYY’s Student Union Ribbon or Honorary Ribbon, for example, at Annual Celebrations. The criteria for awarding recognitions and the way in which the Medals and Ribbons are worn are ruled in the Symbol Regulations. The Symbol Regulations are available only in Finnish in the Documents section on our website.
On this page you’ll find information on how the recognitions are awarded and to whom ISYY has already awarded those.
ISYY has in total six different recognitions that can be awarded to a person according to the criteria ruled in the Symbol Regulations and ISYY Rules.
Recognitions in their honorary order:
Additionally, ISYY can award the Banner of the Student Union or the Honorary Membership for a community.
The current Symbol Regulations of ISYY came into effect in 2020, before which our Student Union has awarded only Medals of Honour and Medals of Distinction. According to the former Symbol Regulations, the former Medal of Distinction is equal to the current Silver Medal of Distinction.
The Honorary Membership is the highest recognition that ISYY can award. It is regulated in the rules of ISYY. Awarding the Honorary Membership to a person or a community is decided by the Representative Council. Other recognitions are awarded by the Executive Board usually on the occasion of ISYY’s Annual Celebration and based on the recommendations of ISYY’s Committee for Recognitions. The Committee consists of Chairpersons and Vice Chairpersons of the previous four ISYY Executive Boards. ISYY members may also suggest distinguished persons to be awarded with honours/recoginitions by the Committee before the Annual Celebration.
